Home Improvement
Process Outline
Getting Started
1) Start looking around.
Look at your friends' homes, magazines, TV programs etc.
and start noticing what styles you and your family like,
and what styles you don't.
2) Start collecting photos and magazine articles of
things that caught your eye. Notice styles, color
schemes and textures.
3) Discuss your ideas with your friends for their
feedback.
4) Come up with a budget you would like to stay within.
5) Review and/or complete the Kitchen Planning
Questionnaire.
6) Draw a rough sketch of your floor plan and take
measurements, or use the building plans of your home if
you have them. Review the section on "Measuring For
Your New kitchen" for guidance.
7) Take photos from several angles of the project area.
Visiting
Our Showroom
1) At our first planning meeting with you, we would like
to answer any questions you may have, look over your
collection of ideas, and get a feel for your project. We
want to use this initial meeting to know each other a
little better, for we will need to be working closely
together on your project.
2) Next, we work on a few concept drawings and budgets
for your project. When we have the right concept and
budget for your approval, the design process can begin.
Our design fees will be discussed at this time.
Designing
the Details
1) During this phase of the design process, all the
details start coming together. Actual sizes and shapes,
trims and accessories are indicated.
2) We will need to come to your home and take final
measurements.
3) The actual working drawings, elevations and 3D
perspectives will be created for your approval.
4) We will provide you with the final price based on our
concepts, your revisions and final measurements.
5) We will meet to discuss the design and pricing and
discuss any modifications you would like to make.
6) With your approval, we will sign contracts and
proceed with scheduling your project.
Ordering
The Pieces
1) With many specialty fixtures, appliances and
cabinetry, lead times can be very long, especially if
special colors or details are included. With proper
planning, delays can be avoided by ordering these items
when scheduled.
2) We need to have all the necessary components for your
project on site before the actual demolition and
construction phase begins. This will avoid unnecessary
delays with your project and shorten the time your house
is under construction.
The
Construction Process
1) Before any demolition work begins, we will be masking
off the work area from the rest of your home for dust
control.
2) During the demolition we will carefully remove all
appliances and fixtures you wish to reuse and place for
safe storage. Then we will remove all items necessary
for the new layout.
3) If any construction is required, i.e. moving walls,
electrical, plumbing, drywall, and paint it will be done
at this point.
4) All cabinets are installed.
5) Countertops and flooring are installed.
6) All appliances and fixtures are installed.
7) Cleanup touch-up and final inspections are completed.
